Spring is such a gentle season to celebrate with children. I love marking seasonal changes at home through small, meaningful rituals — simple gestures that bring nature, stories and imagination into everyday life.
This year, I created a soft spring basket inspired by the world of Beatrix Potter: storybooks, little rabbits, eggs and a delicate paper flower. A poetic yet affordable way to welcome the season and create a sense of wonder.
The idea behind a seasonal basket
Creating a seasonal basket is a beautiful way to help children notice and feel the rhythm of the year. It becomes a small visual celebration — something they can look at, explore and associate with the season.
Spring naturally evokes renewal, nature and gentle colours. For this basket, I focused on:
– soft greens and natural tones
– storybook imagery
– animal figures
– organic textures
– simple seasonal symbols
The goal is calm beauty rather than abundance.
What I included in this spring basket
This composition contains:
– a Beatrix Potter book
– a small Peter Rabbit figurine
– decorative eggs
– a paper tulip flower
– a chocolate bunny
– soft tissue paper base
Each element was chosen for its connection to spring and childhood storytelling. Books act as the anchor of the basket, while small objects create discovery.
How to create your own spring basket
You can recreate this idea easily at home with a few items:
Choose a natural basket
Add soft paper or fabric at the base
Place a seasonal book upright
Add a figurine or small toy
Include a flower (real or paper)
Finish with eggs or a small treat
Balance height, texture and colour for a harmonious look.
A simple and affordable seasonal ritual
This basket was intentionally created with accessible items — many already at home. Seasonal traditions do not need to be elaborate or expensive. A beloved book, a small toy and a handmade element are often enough to create magic.
Over time, seasonal baskets can become a gentle family ritual — brought out each year, adapted as children grow and seasons change.

I also created a second variation of this spring basket, using brighter paper flowers and a playful colour palette — you can see this alternate version in the video below.
